Limited number of half-price MIAM appointments available
From October 2015:
We often get calls from enquirers on low or modest incomes who say they are unable to afford a MIAM appointment - even if means they might be eligible for legal aid and a refund of the fee paid. They need an appointment, can't afford it, but because they are working aren't eligible for one of our 'legal aid pending' appointments.
To help these prospective clients and as part of our social enterprise objectives we are offering a limited number of HALF-PRICE initial (MIAM) appointments to those who are in receipt of tax credits (evidence required). Appointments will take place at our St Albans office only.
We expect there will be a lot of demand for these appointments and will allocate them on a 'first come, first served' basis. Payment of £50 + VAT (£60) will be required at the time of booking.
Clients will have a full standard MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting) appointment with an accredited* family mediator and the £60 fee paid includes the cost of contacting the other party (usually £30) and signing any court forms (again usually £30).
Accredited and registered under the Family Mediation Council/Ministry of Justice scheme effective from Nov 2015.
