Family Mediator & Practice Director
Before training as a family mediator Mairead worked as a University Lecturer in Social Science/Law and as an education counsellor. Mairead is a Legal Aid Agency accredited mediator, qualified to offer publicly funded mediation to clients. She is also qualified to offer Direct Consultation with Children in Mediation.
Mairead has ten years experience as a family mediator and for seven years was a Board Member of the Family Mediators Association. She is a professional supervisor of mediators working for both Harmony Mediation and other mediation services.
Mairead is based at our St Albans office. Her most recent continuing professional training has included courses on pensions, dealing with conflict and family law legal updates.
Mairead recently served as the Family Mediators Association representative on the Family Mediation Council, the representative group for all family mediators in England and Wales. In addition Mairead sat on the Ministry of Justice's Family Mediation Steering Group until it was disbanded in March 2014.
Mairead is involved with and interested in mediation policy at government level, in mediation standards in training and in being part of the movement taking the profession forward. This also helps keep Harmony Mediation at the forefront of any changes in family mediation policy and pratice.
